Discuss He Only Had to Say Her Name Here

June4

Now that the ride with Karen’s He Only Had to Say Her Name is over, share your thoughts here.

What would you have done in the same situation? Do you think James liked the author back? Do you also like bad boys? I do. But that’s beside the point. Let’s hear what you have to say.

Can’t wait to hear from you guys.

He Only Had to Say Her Name | Part 5

June3

The next day, we spent the morning taking in the sun while wading in the waters. That afternoon, we were all dead tired. Marlon and Jen decided to grab some sleep in the cabana.

James and I opted to stay in the beach. Minutes later, as we lie under the sun, he fell asleep.

He Only Had to Say Her Name | Part 4

I was aching to make ways to spend more time with James. Aside from the daily rides home, I started to invite him (and our other co-trainees) to more and more breakfast, and movies, and ice cream breaks. But I knew these moments just weren’t enough. I wanted more.

He Only Had to Say Her Name | Part 3

“Ei Karen, malapit ka lang sa España umuuwi ‘di ba? Sabay ka na sa’kin.”

‘Twas James. He was asking me to hitch a ride in his car. Of course, that was my signal to dive into an ear-to-ear smile and say, “Ah sure. Sige!” But just not to sound too eager, I added, “Sino-sino pa kasabay?”

“Si Alex and Roy.”

Bummer. I’ll be sharing the ride with two other guys. But hey, that’s better than nothing.

And so it began.

I was late for my training. But as I walked into the training room, I made a quick sweep of my co-trainees. I was checking out the cuties. There was one who’s my type: an artsy-fartsy looking gorgeous boy. The one who looks like he’s into filmmaking.

“Hi, I’m Mark. I’m an undergraduate of B.A. Film Production.”

Jackpot.

He Only Had to Say Her Name | Part 1

May22

Just like any other mornings, I hitched a ride home in his swabeng Honda Civic car (it’s not really that swabe if you look at it — it’s boring gray — but with him driving it, the car does look guwapo). The only difference with this morning is the fact that there were only two of us in the car (usually, two other guys hitches a ride). And my determination to let him know that I’m starting to like him more than just a friend.

We started the ride with him playing the one CD he has in his car — the one that has the latest RnB songs. Then he started to talk about work. He was talking about this funny call that he had, the one where the customer - who was a guy - said his boyfriend is the account holder. I was racking my brains up as to when will be the perfect time to make my move. And then there it was - his story was finished and the CD started playing “our song” — the unreleased Ne-Yo song to which he once held my hand while singing along.

“James…I love you. Or at least, I’m starting to love you.”
